My remote Lexus key got machine washed so I contacted Lexus Ipswich about a replacement. UTTER MADNESS !
I found the "local" Lexus dealer through Google - 31 miles away
A young man answered my call and I enquired about getting a replacement remote key
He said "You can't order a key over the phone - we need to see proof of ID and ownership before we order the key"
So I asked "And how long does it take to actually get the key?"
He replied "Usually 7 - 10 days sometimes it's around 7 days..."
So I said "Look, my key's been machine washed and is now extraordinarily unreliable.
Surely anybody should be able to order a key by phone and make payment
Because said key will remain in your care until pickup when you can check credentials all you like"
He replied "I'm sorry I don't make the rules"
And I replied "So I have to make a 60+ mile round trip just to place the order, survive a week to a week and a half and then repeat the 30+ mile journey to collect my key and ALL on a wing and a prayer with a dodgy key JUST because your rules are daft!?!?"
